Lake Effect Snow Continues

LAKE EFFECT SNOWS TO CONTINUE
Totals may reach past 1'.
This is The Weather Centre's Chief Meteorologist here to talk about the upcoming and ongoing lake effect snows.
Of course, the area outlined has already had one bout of 1-3' (yes the ' sign means FEET.), and this now appears likely again. Maybe not as bad, but 8 inches is definitely a sure bet for the most affected spots. The entire outlined area should prepare for at least 1'.

Snowfall Centre Update

Snow bulletins will be issued once a day or twice for snow related events on the Snowfall Centre page.

Midweek Clipper Risk

A clipper will possibly move through the area, producing widespread 3-6''.

For the Chicago area, over the next 5 days, if the data accessed here at The Weather Centre plays out, the area could be looking at a nice 7 inches of snow. The thickness would be fine.

If the next 10 day forecast plays out, an additional 2-3 inches could come.

This is using the 10:1 snowfall to inches of water ratio.

December 15-16 GL Snowstorm Bulletin

The Weather Centre Snow Bulletin
December 15-16 Snowstorm
Issued Dec. 12th 9:51am

A Snow Bulletin has been issued for the Lower Great Lakes for the possibility of a snowstorm.

Surface Forecast indicates low pressure moving SE from Canada in 12z Thursday going through N. IL area. Dry Slot potential in central IL, North IL if track plays out. This low pressure system will be called LP1.
Also, potential for double-impact. Low pressure will mve through Kentucky/Tennessee with pressure of 1008mb. This Low Pressure will be called LP2.
LP2 will keep south enough so main impacts will land on Central IL. LP1 should add to impact in Central IL, also bringing a batch of snow up to the Upper Midwest.
GFS Indicating LP1 mainly impacting East IA with single band of heavy snow. However, LP1 will also then strengthen temporarily, impacting Central IL with a wintry mix. LP1 will then combine with LP2, which will move offshore.
ATTM, will outline snowstorm risk for Cntrl IA. Will also outline Wintry Mix risk in Cntrl IL.
However, system is still 4 days away. Change is likely.
Next bulletin will be issued this afternoon. Risk images may be found on the Storm Tracker page.

Lower GL Aftermath.

Above, we have the water vapor image. We can see how much that dry slot affected us and kinda still is, as you can see the dirty white color in Illinois. However, if that white comes to, snow would be more prominent.
