May 3: Flooding Risk Increases- 24 hour Rainfall

In the past 24 hours, more rain has fallen where it is nowhere near needed.
In one area of Kentucky alone, as seen in the graph above, an area received up to 4 inches of rain in 24 hours- and average of 1 inch every 6 hours.
Be careful if you live in the Midwest, and look for The Weather Centre posting Civil Emergency Messages, which will mention evacuations.

The Weather Centre is advising residents within Shelby County, Tennessee to have all evacuation preparations in place.
This is considered a voluntary evacuation at this time.
If you live near/within:
100 Year Flood Plain of Rivers and Streams

You are advised to make serious consideration on evacuations due to flooding.

THE NORTH FORK OF THE FORKED DEER RIVER AT DYERSBURG.

THE CITY OF DYERSBURG IS RECOMMENDING EVACUATIONS IN SOUTHTOWN,
EVANSVILLE, THE SOUTHERN END OF COTTON VILLA AT ROSEMONT
COVE...RIVER RIDGE COVE AND DELTA PINE AVE AT THIS TIME. OTHER
AREAS MAY ALSO BE AFFECTED.

ALL RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN OF RIVES IN OBION COUNTY SHOULD TAKE
ACTION NOW TO BE PREPARED TO EVACUATE HOMES AND BUSINESSES IF
FLOODING OCCURS. IN ADDITION...THE WATER AND SEWER SYSTEM FOR THE
TOWN OF RIVES WILL BE SHUT DOWN PER MAYOR STAN POWELL.

IF YOU EVACUATE YOUR HOME...PLEASE SECURE YOUR PROPERTY BY CLOSING
AND LOCKING ALL DOORS...TURN OFF THE MAIN POWER TO YOUR HOME...AND
PLACE A WHITE FLAG OR CLOTH ON THE FRONT DOOR OF YOUR HOME TO
ALERT RESPONDERS THAT YOU HAVE LEFT.

FLOODING IS CURRENTLY OCCURRING IN RIVES AND OBION WITH POTENTIAL
OF ADDITIONAL RISE IN FLOOD WATERS.

A SHELTER IS OPEN AT SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH IN UNION CITY. ADDITIONAL
SHELTER LOCATIONS WILL BE RELEASED AS AVAILABLE.

Snapshot Forecast: May 3

A section of rain is currently developing and moving through the Ohio Valley. 3 hour precipitation rates indicate up to .75 inches of rain is possible in 3 hours. It appears a very small portion of that rain may be convective, or include storms.
The rain in the Ohio Valley will stick around pretty much all day. Again, some convection is possible.

Elsewhere, nuisance showers will bubble up in the Northwest.
There is potential for scattered showers to erupt in Northwest Illinois and East Iowa.

Temperatures will be in the 50's in the: Ohio Valley, Northwest
Temperatures will be in the 60's in the: Central, Southern and Northern Plains, some of the Southwest, some of the Northeast.
Temperatures will be in the 70's in the: Portions of Southern Plains, East Coast
Temperatures will be in the 80's in the: Portions of the East Coast, Portions of the Southwest.
