PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 0658 AM CDT SUN JUN 26 2011 ...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED OVER PARTS OF THE MIDDLE MISSOURI VALLEY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT... THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS OF THE MIDDLE MISSOURI VALLEY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE WESTERN IOWA NORTHWEST MISSOURI CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEBRASKA SOUTHEASTERN SOUTH DAKOTA ELSEWHERE...SEVERE STORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE TODAY ACROSS PARTS OF THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL PLAINS SOUTHEASTWARD INTO PARTS OF THE LOWER OHIO AND TENNESSEEE VALLEYS THE AIR MASS ACROSS MUCH OF MIDDLE MISSOURI VALLEY IS LIKELY TO BECOME VERY UNSTABLE BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON. AT THE SAME TIME WIND FIELDS WILL STRENGTHEN AS A WEATHER SYSTEM PROGRESSES EAST OF THE ROCKIES...AND CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME FAVORABLE FOR AN OUTBREAK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORNADOES ...A COUPLE OF WHICH COULD BE STRONG...IN ADDITION TO LARGE HAIL. THE SEVERE THREAT SHOULD CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING HOURS...WITH THE RISK FOR DAMAGING WINDS BECOME MORE PROMINENT SOUTHEASTWARD INTO PARTS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS AND MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. STATE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGERS ARE MONITORING THIS DEVELOPING SITUATION. THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE WEATHER SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS LATER TODAY.
