PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 0505 AM CDT MON JUN 20 2011 ...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT... THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE WESTERN IOWA NORTHEAST KANSAS NORTHWEST MISSOURI EASTERN NEBRASKA SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA ELSEWHERE...SEVERE STORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE OVER PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS...UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...OHIO VALLEY...AND CENTRAL APPALACHIANS STATES. A LARGE AND STRONG STORM SYSTEM OVER THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN ROCKIES WILL MOVE NORTHEASTWARD AND AFFECT THE CENTRAL PLAINS STATES LATER TODAY. HOT...HUMID...AND WINDY CONDITIONS AT THE SURFACE WILL LEAD TO A VERY UNSTABLE AIR MASS THIS AFTERNOON. SCATTERED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST TO FORM OVER EASTERN NEBRASKA AND SPREAD EASTWARD INTO SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA AND WESTERN IOWA THROUGH THE EVENING. OTHER INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP BY LATE AFTERNOON ALONG A LINE FROM SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA INTO EASTERN KANSAS...MOVING INTO WESTERN MISSOURI DURING THE EVENING.
