Bottom stripe of snow is December 5-7 storm |
I believe that some areas within this stripe of heavier snow from the December 5-7 snowstorm could easily cause a 'snow day' or delay of school for some areas when the system passes through. This image projects over a foot of snow to fall in Central Illinois, with isolated higher totals in Missouri. We have yet to have a definitive chance for a snowstorm, but rather be safe than sorry, we have decided to outline a risk for snow days.

Good morning Andrew.Just a thought.Could this low POSSIBLY move more to the east of the projected track then hook up through Kentucky then continue to move through western PA.or not?
I don't know if you will have to much hope with that because all the models look pretty firm that the storm will start in New Mexico and track northeast. It could still happen.
Mike: We don't have a nailed down idea of the track yet.
AJ: As mentioned above, we are still working on the track and trying to work with the models.
To both of you: The 12z models reportedly are having initialization problems, which may render them useless. We will have to see.
I like this forecast as of now...looks like this will be the case!
Do you think Hamilton, Ontario will get snow from this
Is it possible that there could be a big storm coming up the coast and bringing a lot of snow to the big citys like New York. I'm just wondering because the 06Z model run on the GFS says that this could happen on the 19th of December.
Anonymous #1: The models might flip a bit, but every run like this enhances the potential for this solution.
Anonymous #2: It is possible that Hamilton will get some flurries. The models have to configure themselves a little better to get some more accurate accumulation amounts, if any.
Anonymous #3: The 19th is 16 days away- I wouldn't think about it until 5 days out, if the GFS still shows it, which I doubt. But hey- anything's possible these days. ;)
How much snow will Toronto,ON get?
How much snow will Valparaiso,Indiana most likely get?
Toronto- Maybe some flurries, yet to be determined.
Valparaiso- Over 2 inches is possible right now, but with such a thin line of accumulation, it will be determined at the eleventh hour.
if the track moves south would NC and Va get snow?
It seems this storm is getting weaker. Is that true?
Anonymous: If the track did move south, yes, they would get snow. However, the track will not be moving south.
AJ: It's more of a problem of how there will not be as much cold air as anticipated, thus less snow.
Is there any chance this could bring a winter storm warning to Indiana?
Depending on how much cold air goes into the area
Is this storm still capable of dropping the foot of snow over central Illinois? Is this for sure?
On weather advance .com they said the gfs models were showing a snowstorm potential for th southeast is this correct?
Owen: It is not for sure and appears somewhat unlikely at this time.
Anonymous: Check the Snoctober post.
