Hurricane Daniel Very Disorganized; No Threat to Land

Hurricane Daniel is currently a Category 1 hurricane with a central pressure of 992 millibars and maximum winds of 75 MPH.

Satellite imagery indicates that the eye of Daniel has collapsed in as weakening to a bare minimum Category 1 hurricane has occurred. Daniel is expected to continue to die out and eventually become post tropical as it passes south of Hawaii.

Ensemble forecast models indicate Daniel has the best chance of keeping south of Hawaii, but a few models insist Daniel poses a threat to Hawaii. I prefer to think that the system will keep south of Hawaii.

Hurricane Daniel on Steady West Track

Hurricane Daniel is currently spinning in the East Pacific, where it is now a Category 2 hurricane. Earlier, Daniel had been a major hurricane for a brief period, reaching Category 3 strength.

Daniel's track takes the system on a straight westward course, possibly towards Hawaii over the next few days. However, over those few days, significant weakening is expected as the system moves in to less favorable waters for tropical systems.
