Rain-to-Snow Changeover Earlier than Anticipated

Radar and observations are indicating that the changeover from rain to snow has happened. It was supposed to occur this evening, but now that it has changed over, I do anticipate snowfall accumulations to be higher than what is being shown on the models right now. In order for the models to recognize this unexpected changeover, I recommend not using the short range models until the 20z (2:00 PM CST) runs, which by then should have detected the early changeover.

Hey Andrew, can you tell me where to find polarimetric radar data on the Internet? I've been searching for a couple of days now, but to no avail. Is this radar data not free on the Internet, or am I just not searching in the right places?

Eastern WX: I have gotten an inch of slushy, wet snow. I don't think you get too excited- I'm pretty pumped up too- it's the first snow in a long time.

Joshua: I have a Mac computer and use an app called Radarscope. It is by far the best radar app I have used. Radarscope does have dual-pol radar products, but it is either 20 or 30 dollars on the Mac App Store.

Andrew, I agree 110%!!! Radar scope is by far the best radar app, I have it for my IPod touch, accurate, smooth, and lots of different choices of views!! I got to watch a tornado echo this past summer that came through my area (small F1). Cool nobody hurt! Worth the money dude, especially if your a weather nut!!

Andrew, i think some thundersnow may not be far away. I must say that this is a GREAT clipper. When they wrap up like this it is wonderful. I will gladly take one of these. This clipper has quite a bit of moisture to it. Great to see this occur. Your idea of a pattern change has been proven again. Great job!!! I enjoy talking about weather with you!!!
