Christian County, IL Tornadoes April 19-20



TORNADO 1

A TORNADO DEVELOPED AT 617 PM CDT 4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF KINCAID. THE
TORNADO DESTROYED A GRAIN BIN AND BOUNCED IT THROUGH A FIELD...THE
FRONT YARD OF A HOME AND THEN OUT INTO A FIELD ABOUT ONE QUARTER
MILE AWAY. THE TORNADO CONTINUED EAST AND DESTROYED TWO MORE GRAIN
BINS AND A LARGE FARM STORAGE BUILDING. ONE BIN BENT OVER A TREE AND
WAS BLOWN INTO A GARAGE...PUSHING IT OFF ITS FOUNDATION. THE SECOND
GRAIN BIN WAS BLOWN OVER THE GARAGE AND OUT INTO A FIELD ABOUT ONE
QUARTER MILE AWAY TO THE EAST. THE LARGE FARM STORAGE BUILDING AS A
120 FT BY 48 FT BUILDING AND WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE DEBRIS
FROM THIS BUILDING WAS THROWN INTO A BRICK HOUSE AND CAVED IN THE
NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE UPPER PART OF THE HOUSE. OTHER DEBRIS FROM
THE LARGE BUILDING WAS LODGED IN BETWEEN THE HOUSE AND THE
GARAGE...BROKE OUT WINDOWS ON THE HOUSE...AND DROVE SEVERAL WOOD
PIECES INTO THE HOUSE AND GARAGE. THE TORNADO CONTINUED
EAST-SOUTHEAST...DEPOSITING GRAIN BIN DEBRIS FOR ANOTHER 1.5 MILES
BEFORE DISSIPATING 2.5 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF KINCAID AROUND 620
PM CDT.

BEGINNING: 617 PM CDT...4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF KINCAID
ENDING: 620 PM CDT...2.5 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF KINCAID

TORNADO 2

A TORNADO DEVELOPED AT 632 PM CDT 2 MILES NORTHEAST OF TAYLORVILLE.
THE TORNADO TRAVELED EAST AND KNOCKED OVER 8 EMPTY RAIL CARS. THE
TORNADO CONTINUED ABOUT ANOTHER HALF MILE TO THE EAST AND DISSIPATED
2.5 MILES NORTHEAST OF TAYLORVILLE AROUND 633 PM CDT.

ENDING: 633 PM CDT...2.5 MILES NORTHEAST OF TAYLORVILLE

TORNADO 3

A TORNADO DEVELOPED AT 630 PM CDT 4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF
MORRISONVILLE. THE TORNADO KNOCKED DOWN SEVERAL POWER POLES ALONG
RTE 48 AND TRAVELED EAST OUT IN THE COUNTRY. THE TORNADO CONTINUED
EAST FOR ALMOST 3 MILES AND TORE OFF THE ROOF OF A HOG PEN. PART OF
THE ROOF WAS BLOWN INTO A STORAGE BUILDING...MAKING A HOLE IN THE
SIDE OF THE BUILDING. ANOTHER PART OF THE ROOF WAS BLOWN OVER THE
BUILDING AND DRIVEN INTO THE GROUND NEAR THE HOUSE...TO THE EAST.
THE TORNADO ALSO COLLAPSED IN THE NORTH DOORS OF A LARGE METAL FARM
BUILDING AND TORE OFF A SMALL PART OF THE ROOF NEAR THE DOOR. THE
TORNADO ALSO COLLAPSED A SMALL BARN ACROSS THE STREET AND BLEW
ADDITIONAL DEBRIS FROM THE HOG PEN ROOF ONE HALF MILE TO THE
EAST-SOUTHEAST. THE TORNADO DISSIPATED 3 MILES SOUTH OF
MORRISONVILLE AROUND 632 PM CDT.

ENDING: 632 PM CDT...3 MILES SOUTH OF MORRISONVILLE
