In the event of a hot weather event, it is advised you do the following:
1. Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids. In hot climates, the body loses water at a much faster rate, which could put your health in jeopardy.
2. Take many breaks if outside working. The body needs more breaks to prevent a stress-related illness such as heat stroke.
3. Stay inside with air conditioning. If that doesn't work, stay under the shade.
4. Check on elderly neighbors and those with disabilities that may affect their health in warm temperatures. Those groups of people are especially suspect to potentially deadly heat-related illnesses.
