December 14-17 Potential Snow Event (Ohio Valley Affected)

18z GFS.
Precipitation north of blue line is snow.
The 18z GFS is indicating the potential for a snow event in the Ohio Valley. It appears a system will eject from the South, rapidly deepen, and move north into the Ohio Valley area. This track and deepness (strength) of the system would bring possibly some heavy snow to West Ohio and Indiana, while bringing rain to the East Coast. It looks like the GFS is the only solution at this time providing this storm, so we will have to wait until the 0z model runs to see if the storm will continue as planned or not.

How far into Indiana will it go?

Mike: If you live in Northwest Ohio, then yes. It appears only West Ohio will get in on the system from this run out of the whole state.

Anonymous: It would depend on the closeness of the rain/snow line.

AJ: If this verifies, Indiana would end up with quite a snowstorm.

Hello Andrew.Hopefully this does not happen.I live east of this area in Ohio.I would more then likely recieve rain from this system.Towards the end it probably change to snow but wouldn't accumulate.Do you see any other decent snows in the next few weeks?

Hello Andrew.I watched my local weather this evening. The meteorologists stated that there is a possibility for a pretty good snowstorm over northern Ohio in the 18-19 time frame this month. They stated a storm from the southwest would cause this. What are your thoughts?

Could there be a snowstorm in the 20-22 timeframe in Indiana/Illinois/southern Michigan/and western Ohio?

AJ (1st comment): The models are no longer showing the solution listed above.

Anonymous: As of right now, it would be rain.

Mike: Not sure right now. The ECMWF shows a very weak piece of energy ejecting from the SW which would likely affect the Northeast if it came down to it.

AJ (2nd comment): Too far out in the models to tell.
