Christmas Snowstorm Update (Updated 12/19)

DGEX Accumulated Snowfall From Hour 84-192.
The DGEX model is showing the potential for over 12 inches of snow across a very wide swath of the Northeast. The DGEX is not a particularly good model, so take that for what it's worth. However, this is likely giving a glimpse into what might happen for a Christmas Snowstorm. If this were to verify, millions of people would be grounded and held up due to this. Travel would come to a standstill. It would be chaos across the board, but would definitely make for some good memories. More updates as the day draws closer.

Hello Andrew. If this were to verify,i would get about 8"-10" of snow.I understand that this model is not very accurate. What are the other models spitting out? Thanks.

Hey Andrew, this is Reid. How much snow could this storm potentially dump in Northern Fairfield County, Connecticut?

AJ said...

I mean the.

Andrew said...

AJ: We are watching a light snow event for the Midwest in that timeframe.

Reid: The whole Northeast would get a real pounding if this verified. Widespread 12 inches+

Hi Andrew, How much could Ohio get if this storm really comes to life?

Andrew said...

The latest DGEX has really drawn back on amounts. That said, we will wait until tomorrow to say how much Ohio would get.

Hello Andrew. Are any other the models predicting a storm like this DGEX model is showing? Also, how accurate in your mind is this model? Is the ECMWF model more accurate then this one? You previously mentioned that the EMCWF is a good model to use for predicting winter storms. What are your thoughts on this storm actually occuring?

Do you think Valparaiso would get hit?
