Plains Receives Sunday Severe Threat from SPC

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a large section of the Plains into the upper Midwest for a long range severe weather risk on Sunday. It does appear a disturbance will generate enough heat and humidity to pose for some instability. The jet stream will likely be pumping under this system, so shearing may very well help storms fire in the midst of a potential cap in the atmosphere. This definitely does bear watching.

Just draw a line straight southeast from that and that is the threat zone later./

I have been looking at this for a couple of days now and this setup looks very similair to the april severe weather event just a little farther to the north. We have high pressure strengthening over the eastern U.S. and a trough in the west ejecting short waves into the midwest. This always is a good setup for severe weather with the right ingredients such as moisture transport, forcing, shear, ect....... We will see if this plays out the way NWS is predicting it to be! Thanks Andrew!

Hello, friends! It is looking good for a potential severe outbreak Sunday. Also, I believe a large part of the country will have a series of outbreaks Memorial Day week. Midwest definitely included. It is really great having you on here, each of you. Stay safe!!!/
